Meet the Band...

Soprano Cornet

Steve "Wiggy" Biggs

Lives in Bradford

Wiggy joined us in 2009 after the area contest. Having played for many of the other local bands, Wiggy has found a new home on Sop at Emley.

Principal Cornet

Crawford Howe

Lives in Grange Moor, West Yorkshire

Joined the band in Spring 1998

Crawford lists his banding highlights as qualifying for the Nationals in 2006 and marching to a Grease medley at Whit Friday in 2007! He claims his "pet hate" is chit-chat in the bandroom whilst Garry is talking (creep!). Crawf would like to get Emley into the top section..

Away from Band, Crawford has hundreds of children, and despite accidentally setting fire to his season ticket, is a dedicated Huddersfield Town fan!

Solo Cornet

Andrew Horton

Lives in Skelmanthorpe, West Yorkshire

Joined the band in February 2009

Away from the band Andrew is married with three children (two none players and the wife hates brass bands!!!) and all the family are season ticket holders for the Huddersfield Giants.

Solo Cornet

Jason Godwin

Joined the band January 2011

Solo Cornet

Alan Moore

Lives in Harrogate, North Yorkshire

Joined the band in March 2001, played Soprano Cornet from 2003 to 2009, put in a brief spell on the front row and now sits on the rep seat, helping to strengthen the band for the second section!

When he's not with Emley, Alan likes large quantities of lager, plays in a rock band called "Groove Box" and has his own Harrogate based fan club that follow him everywhere.

Repiano Cornet

Stephen Chapple

Lives in Crigglestone, West Yorkshire

Joined the band as Soprano Cornet in 2003, moved onto the back row, then rep, solo cornet! and has finally settled back on his preferred Rep seat!

When he's not with Emley, Stephen likes the odd lager, tinkering with cars and trying to teach his parrot to say more than "ello"

Back Row Squad Member

Rob Collinson

Live in Leeds, West Yorkshire

Joined the band in January, 2011

When he's not at Emley, Rob spends a lot of his time whizzing up and down the country recording various bands.

Back Row Squad Member

Richard Godden

Lives in Batley, West Yorkshire

Joined the band long long ago!

When he's not with Emley, Richard likes large quantities of Guinness, looking after his daughter Sophie and riding his motorbike.

Back Row Squad Member

Andrew Garrett

Lives in Brighouse, West Yorkshire

Joined the band in March 2004 and is captain of the Emley 5-a-side football team!

When Manxman Andy is not with Emley, he likes the odd glass of lager, spends too much time supporting Liverpool FC (hence the endless Scouser jokes). With newly retired greyhound Nimrod in the house, Andy is busy as ever.

Back Row Squad Member

Cameron Chapman

Joined October 2011

When Cameron is not at band, he likes to beat his Dad playing FIFA on the PS3. He once came 3rd in an Inter-school talent contest (5 schools were involved) — Singing opera! (I wouldn't have told Garry about that! - Ed). Cameron comes from a noisy household, with big sister playing trombone, and younger brother playing percussion. His Grandad, who always loved to hear brass bands, will be watching down and feeling very proud.

The picture of Cameron was taken as he received the trophy on behalf of the band at the Butlins contest, January 2012

Flugel Horn

Jennie Taylor

Joined the band in 2011

Solo Horn

Deborah Howe

Lives in Grange Moor, West Yorkshire

Joined the band in 1995

Debs has played cornet in the past but now enjoys solo horn. She does a sterling job with the Emley library, despite Garry's best efforts to mess it up! When she's not with Emley, Deb likes large quantities of baileys, looking after five children (including newest daughter Annabelle). If Debs could take three things to a desert island they'd be a comfy bed, a bath and an iPod (hmm, no mention of Crawf here?!).

1st Horn

Roger Starkey

Lives in Emley, West Yorkshire

Joined the band because he could walk to the band room!

When he's not with Emley, Roger likes large quantities of bitter, looking after his wife (she wishes!) and eating really spicy food, he's the only band member that likes Garry's Chilli!.

2nd Horn

Megan Goodall

Joined in October 2011

Megan started playing the cornet aged 6 then moved onto horn in 2009. She is involved with a local youth band & is the 1st female in her family to carry on the banding tradition in over 100 years. Megan loves art & listening to Paramore, Hey Monday. She loves pasta & ketchup, Ben & Jerrys & won't leave home without her blackberry

Solo Baritone

Sally Garrett

Lives in Brighouse, West Yorkshire

Joined the band in April 2004

When she's not with Emley, Sally keeps busy walking her new dog Nimrod (see the friends page). Having domesticated Andy already, I'm sure a retired Greyhound will be a piece of cake! Like more and more of the band, Sally counts things for a living, and after a good few years of sterling service, has handed on the band treasury reigns to apprentice Fliss!

2nd Baritone

Jenny Ehrhardt

Lives in Driglington, West Yorkshire

Joined the band in September 2005, Jen is the Chairman of the band.

When she's not with the band Jen enjoys pony trekking, sailing and generally doing posh things. Jen offered up her solo euphonium seat after bagging a new, high power job, which should help keep the Pimms flowing in the Ehrhardt household!

Solo Trombone

Felicity Ward

Lives in Brighouse, West Yorkshire

Joined the band in July 2005, and is the treasurer.

When she's not with Emley, Fliss enjoys the odd bottle of French Rosé! She also enjoys cooking, using recipe books to make interesting soups, though she rarely uses the ingredients they suggest!

2nd Trombone

Kevin Hallas

Lives in Wakefield, West Yorkshire

Join the band in March 2007, and is the secretary & webmaster of the band.

When he's not with Emley, Kevin enjoys the odd bottle of 1664, fixing cars & trailers and trying weird experiments in his shed!

Bass Trombone

Sophie Chapman

Join the band in October 2011

Solo Euphonium

Keith Lawton

Lives in Sheffield, South Yorkshire

Returning to the Emley after stint with a higher section band, it feels like a homecoming for Keith, having played with Emley in 2003 & 2004.

2nd Euphonium

Jayne Godden

Lives in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire

Joined the band to keep an eye on her brother!

When she's not with Emley, Jayne likes large quantities of lager, looking after her figure and partying till she can't stand up..

EEb Bass

Adam Clewes

Lives in Brighouse, West Yorkshire

Joined the band in July 2005

When he's not with Emley, Adam enjoys very large quantities of Tim Taylor's Landlord, playing golf and teasing his little brother when we beat his band.

EEb Bass

Paul Dyson

Lives in Swinton, South Yorkshire

Joined the band in 2007

When he's not playing with Emley (or Emma), Paul enjoys sampling a cold Guinness or two, visiting the coast and messing about with tubes of paint in his shed (but hopefully not all at the same time!)

BBb Bass

Phil Goodall

Lives in Grangemoor, West Yorkshire

Joined the band in March 2010

When he's not blowing his brains out at Emley (what's left!) Phil enjoys spending time with the family, Megan is 11 and April is 2 next, and of course his Wife of 13 years, Sam. Phil also enjoys  a well kept pint of Tetleys or Smiths & spicy foods,  especially Indian.

BBb Bass

Gary Brownl

Lives in Sheffield, SouthYorkshire

Re-joined the band in March 2011, and is Vice Chairman

BBb Bass

Alan Kaye

Lives in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire

Joined the band again in 2002  and is a great asset playing wherever we need him!

When he's not with Emley, Alan wins numerous prizes with his pedigree show dogs and plays with his Grandson (Charlie)

Percussion

Mick Berry

Lives Ossett, West Yorkshire

Joined the band in 2007.

Mick has drummed with all sorts of bands, not just the Brass type! He got back into banding when his son joined a local brass band and needed a bit of help. His Son moved on to pursue his rock career, however, Mick stayed on!

Would you believe Mick is already a Grandad? When Mick's not at Emley he's busy tearing up the countryside with his outrageous Subaru. And then there's the world's most technologically advanced tent...

Percussion

Ashley Eaton

Joined the band in October 2011.
